Ceramics involves real physical risks: heavy metals in some glaze materials, silica dust, kiln heat and combustion byproducts, and food-safety questions about what a fired glaze actually releases in use. Articles on this site, including Environmental impact and Glaze's own Health and safety section, describe these risks at a general, educational level. They are not a substitute for independent glaze leach testing, a qualified professional's assessment of a specific studio or ventilation setup, or any certification a particular use case may require. Whether a specific glaze, body, or practice is safe for a specific purpose (food contact especially) depends on the exact materials and firing involved, not on a general description of the underlying chemistry.
Most articles on this site are written from general ceramics knowledge rather than checked against live sources; REVIEW.md in the project repository tracks which specific claims have been source-verified and which have not. Treat anything here as a starting point for further research, not a final authority, especially for a claim with real safety or financial consequences attached to it.
